stalberg has really done nothing to justify making more than 2 mil/year after this post season. hasn't done very much at all.

3.5 for Bickell will cost Stalberg . If they would have or could have signd Stalberg and Bickell a couple of months ago for a combined 3.5

John Jaeckel: Bickell Signing Update/Game 2
- John Jaeckel

'Pilot light on'....NICE JJ

Big raise for Bicks given his current bargain basement contract and well deserved. It's been a JOY to watch this guy develop under our tent all these years. Home grown fo sure

Big thing for Bicks was the lockout, where he went to Europe and worked on his skating on those big rinks 'over there'. And the results are clear to see. He's looking like a THOROUGHBRED these playoffs.

JJ any word on whether Bickell is inclined to stay here? If they can get a deal done before FA starts, I'd feel a lot better about a manageable price. There's gonna be some team (Edmonton) that throws money at him the Hawks can't match

It's obviously Bicks' right to go after the $$$, but he seems like a LOYAL guy and he might be inclined to give us the discount given his long tenure with us. That's my hope.

Any whispers on Toews condition after the Brown hit in the final minute?
Scott Cullen only one I really see mentioning it.

If they were close on a deal for less money before - why didn't it get done? Hawks' issue or Bickell issue?

And have they been negotiating with Leddy - I know they don't like the agent, but he's just as important as Bickell, IMO.

I don't think that would hurt him, it was a clean hit to the chest and Toews saw it coming

Stalberg has all the athletic tools to be an authentic top two-line forward, but for whatever reason hasn't put his game together to play consistently on that level. At age 27, maybe he will and maybe he won't. I wouldn't know.

Bickell is proving his Byfuglien-esque value now. It's unlikely the Hawks would have gotten past Detroit without him, so signing him should be a top priority, regardless of what this means for Stalls. If the Hawks resign Bicks and say "adios" to VS, that's fine by me.

Thats what I thought as well, but Cullen mentioned it last night and again this morning, so just cautions me a bit.

great news on bikcell

the big reason brown was never involved in the offense was his running around looking for hits.......let him

i thought game 1 vs detroit played the way it did because wings were gassed.....kings had plenty of rest but their feet don't go any faster than they can go

Gonna be interesting to see what adjustments are made in this game. Can't afford to let up and give them confidence going back to LA.

A buyout for Monty another #5 dman that Stan overpaid and gave an NMC.

I think you can say goodbye to Stalberg. Someone is going to give him a big payday for that speed, but again look at the numbers to this point. It was nice to see him actually throw a check yesterday.

I'd be concerned about a possible offer sheet for Leddy. The kid has shown he's going to be a really good one.

Should be another good game this evening. Mentioned in the other thread this morning that the takeaways were 18-6 Hawks at one point. That needs to continue. Be nice to see Kompon's PP get a goal.

$3-$3.5 seems a bit steep for Bickell, not based on his current play but based on his career. But I don't what the team to lose Bickell so if that's what it takes then I think Stan shoud do it.

If signing Bickell means losing Stalberg then so be it. I like Stals but this is the 3rd playoff in a row where is offense has dried up. But given Stalberg's play maybe he does stay, just for a lot less. Maybe the overall cap hit to keep Bickell and Stalberg remains the same, but it's Bickell making $3 million and Stalberg $1.5.

With the cap going down this year it's going to be the rare bird indeed that's going to get a "big payday" this year as a UFA. There's going to be quite of few one year deals being signed this off season IMO.

Why waste a compliance buyout on Rostislav Olesz? Why not use a regular
buyout for his last remaining year? It would be better used on a ugly multiyear contract. Can you say "pizza" ?

Can't imagine Stalberg would stay here after the benching. I'd want to get myself away from the situation, find a second line center that can pass me the puck, and be a 50 point player for the next 3 years
